Honkai Star Rail’s upcoming patch, version 3.8, will launch on December 17 2025, as announced during the game’s recent livestream. The update introduces a new 5‑star Nihility Support character, The Dahlia (also known as Constance), and a new story chapter that returns players to the planet Penacony. Although The Dahlia was hinted at at the start of the Penacony saga, she did not appear in the main or side story; she will now be playable and can amplify Break teams featuring characters such as Firefly, Lingsha, or Fugue. A new 5‑star Nihility Lightcone, “Never Forget Her Flame,” will also be added.
The patch’s banner system is divided into three phases, each showcasing different 5‑star and 4‑star characters. Phase 1 features The Dahlia and Firefly as 5‑star characters, while Phase 2 highlights Fugue and Lingsha. Phase 3 includes Aglaea and Sunday as the 5‑star options. Phases 1 and 2 will run for three weeks each, and Phase 3 will last for 14 days.
A new boss, the Harbinger of Death Swarm Nightmare—a fallen Glamoth Knight with unique mechanics—will challenge players in combat. The story chapter “Memories are the Prelude to Dreams” returns players to Penacony, and a new exploration area, “The Dream of Nine Oak,” will be available. Additional events such as Remnants of Twilight and the Chrysos Awoo Championship will run alongside the update. Players can claim rewards, including Stellar Jades and Credits, using codes announced during the livestream, and a Special Star Rail Pass can be earned by logging in for a total of seven days during the patch.
Version 3.8 also brings adjustments to endgame content, adding a new phase to Apocalyptic Shadow, and introduces a Treasure Hunt event where players can earn Tokens to exchange for rewards like Stellar Jades. The patch will run for eight weeks, concluding with the release of Honkai Star Rail patch 4.0.
