Kenya’s John Korir and Joyciline Jepkosgei swept the 45th Valencia Marathon, delivering a clean sweep for their country. Korir won the men’s race in 2:02:24, the eighth‑best performance worldwide this year and just eight seconds shy of the 2025 record. He was followed by Germany’s Amanal Petros, who set a new national record with 2:04:03, and Norway’s Awet Kibrab, who completed the podium in 2:04:24. The top three men displayed exceptional endurance and speed on the fast Valencia course.
In the women’s race, Jepkosgei finished in 2:14:00, the fastest women’s marathon time of the year and the fourth‑fastest ever recorded. Reigning champion Peres Jepchirchir took second place, 43 seconds behind her compatriot, while Belgium’s Chloé Herbiet secured third with a national record of 2:20:38. Both Korir and Jepkosgei also broke their personal bests, underscoring the course’s reputation for speed.
The marathon attracted a record‑breaking 36,000 participants, according to organizers, marking a significant milestone in its history. Valencia has cemented its status as a premier international racing event, drawing top athletes from around the world and consistently producing record‑breaking performances.
