Ogun Lawmaker Defects from PDP to APC

BREAKING: All Delta PDP Reps defect to APC

A member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rasheed Kashamu, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The lawmaker, who represents Ijebu North Constituency I, announced his decision on the floor of the House on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences and divisions within the PDP at the state and national levels.

According to Kashamu, the PDP’s factional disputes and leadership tussles at the national and state levels, respectively, prompted his decision to join the APC. He expressed his desire to support Governor Dapo Abiodun’s ISEYA Agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aligning himself with other progressives in the state.

Kashamu stated that he had reviewed the current state of the PDP and, considering his constituents’ support, decided to move to the APC along with his supporters. He emphasized his commitment to bringing his “winning formula” to the APC and contributing to the party’s efforts to strengthen good governance in the state.

The lawmaker formally notified the House of his resignation from the PDP and his decision to join the APC, as read by the Speaker, Oludaisi Elemide, during plenary. Kashamu confirmed that he had registered with the APC at his ward in Oke Sopen, Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area, and was ready to work with the party to achieve its goals.

This defection may have significant implications for the political landscape in Ogun State, as the APC continues to consolidate its position. With Kashamu’s move, the party may gain greater support in the Ijebu North Constituency, potentially influencing future elections. As the political dynamics in the state continue to evolve, it remains to be seen how this development will impact the balance of power in the region.
