The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has opted for a consensus approach to select party officials at all levels, ahead of its upcoming congresses. This decision was reached at an expanded State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Lafia. The meeting, which was attended by key party stakeholders, including Governor Abdullahi Sule and former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, aimed to brief party leaders on recent developments within the party.
The decision to adopt consensus was moved by Hon. Hassan Abubakar Nalaraba, a member of the state executive, and seconded by the Deputy National Secretary of the APC, Prof. Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana. The motion was unanimously approved through a voice vote conducted by Senator Adamu. The consensus approach is expected to promote peace within the party and reduce potential challenges during the congresses.
Governor Sule welcomed the decision, stating that it would facilitate a smoother process and reduce conflicts. He also reiterated his support for zoning, which he believes played a crucial role in his emergence as governor and has contributed to maintaining peace in the state. The governor highlighted some of his administration’s achievements, noting that 2025 is expected to be the most resource-rich year for Nasarawa State so far.
