The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has urged the people of Rivers State to support President Bola Tinubu and Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the 2027 general elections. Basiru made this call during the inauguration of the newly completed Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters in Port Harcourt, where he commended Fubara for his governance strides and project delivery.
The APC national scribe described Rivers State as a shining example of the party’s commitment to people-oriented leadership, noting that the state has become the first in the South-South region to be fully controlled by the APC. He expressed pride in the party’s achievements and encouraged residents to consolidate the gains by supporting the party at all levels.
Basiru’s statement comes amid speculation about Fubara’s potential re-election bid, which has been contentious following a political crisis in the state. However, the APC national secretary appeared to offer renewed hope to the governor, praising his performance and describing him as one of the latest entrants into the party.
The inauguration of the Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters was attended by top government officials and stakeholders, including the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Esther Walson-Jack. The project consists of 29 housing units equipped with modern facilities, including a water treatment plant, power generators, and recreational areas.
Governor Fubara said the housing initiative was designed to enhance productivity, improve the health and well-being of senior civil servants, and promote institutional stability within the public service. He promised that the scheme would not be limited to Permanent Secretaries alone and would benefit other categories of civil servants.
The project has been commended as a strategic investment in institutional continuity, aligning with the Federal Government’s staff welfare objectives under President Tinubu’s administration. With the APC poised to consolidate its gains in Rivers State, the party’s national secretary has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the governor and the president in the upcoming elections. The outcome of the 2027 general elections is expected to have significant implications for the state and the party’s fortunes.
