APC Adamawa Registers 202,504 Members

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State has successfully registered 202,504 members in its electronic registration exercise. According to Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, the state Organising Secretary, the total comprises 125,217 male members and 77,287 female members. This milestone was achieved prior to the January 20th deadline, meeting the party’s target of 200,000 people.

Ribadu expressed satisfaction with the progress, stating that the goal of 300,000 registrations by January 31st remains achievable. He encouraged ward agents to sustain the momentum. The APC, currently the largest opposition party in Adamawa State, aims to become the ruling party by 2027. This would mark a return to power for the party, which held office between 2015 and 2019 under former Governor Jibrilla Bindow, now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The APC’s efforts to increase its membership and presence in Adamawa State are significant, given the current dominance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. The PDP holds the governorship and a clear majority in the House of Assembly. The APC’s registration drive is part of its strategy to challenge the PDP’s dominance and potentially take control of the state government in the future.

The electronic registration exercise is a key component of the APC’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots support and build a stronger presence in Adamawa State. By leveraging technology to facilitate membership registration, the party aims to increase its reach and appeal to a broader segment of the population. As the APC continues to work towards its goal of 300,000 registrations, the party’s leadership remains focused on sustaining the momentum and building on the progress made so far.

The outcome of the APC’s registration drive and its implications for the political landscape in Adamawa State will be closely watched in the coming months. With the 2027 elections on the horizon, the APC’s efforts to build a strong foundation and challenge the PDP’s dominance will be crucial in determining the party’s chances of success. As the political landscape in Adamawa State continues to evolve, the APC’s registration drive is an important step towards achieving its goal of becoming the ruling party.
