The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has relocated its National Convention to the Rainbow Event Center in Abuja after facing venue access challenges in the Federal Capital Territory. The party announced on Monday via its official X account that the convention will now take place on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, at Plot 1193A, off Southern Parkway, Garki Area 8.
The venue is situated behind the FCDA/AGIS Building and near the NTA Headquarters in Area 11, according to the statement. The change follows reports that the ADC was denied access to two major venues in Abuja—Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium—by FCT authorities. No official reason was provided for the denials, though the party has not publicly contested the decision.
The ADC, one of Nigeria’s smaller opposition parties, has been working to strengthen its national presence ahead of future electoral cycles. The convention is expected to focus on party restructuring, leadership appointments, and strategy alignment. With the new venue secured, the party is now directing its attention to ensuring a smooth and orderly gathering in line with its constitutional requirements.
The relocation underscores ongoing logistical and administrative hurdles faced by political parties in Nigeria, particularly regarding access to public event spaces. Observers note that such challenges can impact party operations and public perception, especially in the lead-up to critical political events. The ADC has urged its members and supporters to adhere to the updated venue details and arrive promptly for the convention proceedings.
