Lagos‑based socialite and entrepreneur Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E‑Money, has fulfilled his promise to award comedian Carter Efe N50 million after the entertainer triumphed over singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, in a celebrity boxing match.
The bout took place on 30 April 2024 at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event, held in the Balm‑a‑Luxe Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel on Victoria Island, Lagos. After three rounds, the judges rendered a unanimous decision in Carter Efe’s favour, each scoring the fight 30‑27. The victory crowned the comedian as the latest winner of the high‑profile celebrity boxing series.
E‑Money confirmed the cash prize at the conclusion of the event when prompted by Ezekiel Adamu, Chief Executive Officer of Balmoral Group Promotions. “You know we put our money where our mouth is, and so congratulations Carter on your win. N50 million for you,” he said.
Adamu praised the night’s programme, describing it as a “successful and entertaining show that lived up to expectations.” He added that the promotion would continue to deliver “more” events, thanking the organizers, fighters, and audience for their contributions.
The Carter Efe‑Portable clash had been heavily promoted in the weeks leading up to the fight, following a series of public exchanges and challenges between the two entertainers. Portable had entered the bout confident, citing a potential third boxing belt after previous exhibition victories over actors Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington.
In the ring, the comedian capitalised on his height and reach advantages, dictating the pace and controlling the exchanges across all three rounds. Portable was unable to mount a sustained offensive, resulting in the clear decision for Carter Efe.
The N50 million reward underscores the growing commercial appeal of celebrity boxing in Nigeria, where high‑profile personalities increasingly use the sport to engage audiences and generate revenue. Organisers indicated that further events are planned, suggesting that the Chaos in the Ring series will continue to attract both local and international attention.
Carter Efe’s win and the accompanying prize mark a notable development in the intersection of entertainment and sport in West Africa, highlighting the potential for future high‑stakes match‑ups that blend celebrity culture with competitive boxing.
