Hon. Oluremi Oluwalogbon‑Odunsi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kosofe Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat, has publicly rejected the results being circulated after the party’s primary election held on Saturday, May 16. The aspirant insists that no legitimate voting took place in the constituency and that the figures and declarations currently in circulation are unfounded.
In a statement issued shortly after the primary, Oluwalogbon‑Odunsi said the reported numbers did not emerge from any recognised voting process. She added that both Mayor Adele Osinowo and incumbent legislator Hon. Khafilat Ogbara have independently claimed victory in the primary, further complicating the situation.
“The APC’s internal guidelines for conducting primaries were not followed. I reject the purported results being circulated and announced in respect of the primary election held yesterday,” she wrote. Oluwalogbon‑Odunsi argued that the circulation of numbers without an actual election undermines the credibility of the party’s internal democracy and contravenes established procedures.
The aspirant called on APC leadership at both state and national levels to intervene urgently, stressing that the party’s reputation hinges on transparent and credible internal elections. “I do not recognise or accept the purported outcome being circulated; acknowledging it would amount to endorsing a process that did not follow due process,” she said.
According to the statement, a formal petition outlining her concerns and requesting immediate review has already been lodged with the appropriate party authorities. Oluwalogbon‑Odunsi expressed confidence that the party’s leadership will examine the matter thoroughly and take corrective action where necessary.
She also urged party officials to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged declaration of results, noting that only a transparent review can restore confidence among aspirants, delegates and members in Kosofe. While reaffirming her loyalty to the APC and its democratic ideals, she insisted that her stance aims to strengthen the party rather than create division ahead of the general elections.
As of the time of this report, the APC has not issued an official response to the allegations. The outcome of the party’s internal review will determine whether a fresh primary is ordered or the contested results are upheld, a decision that could shape the party’s prospects in the forthcoming legislative contest for Kosofe.
