Lara Don-Momoh Dies After Brief Illness, Two Weeks After Baby

Lara Kudayisi Don‑Momoh, the wife of former gospel singer Teddy Don‑Momoh, died peacefully after a brief illness, just two weeks after the couple welcomed their first child together, a family statement posted on her official Instagram page said.

The statement, released by the Don‑Momoh family, read: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Lara Kudayisi Don‑Momoh,” the family said. “After a brief illness, Coach Lara passed away peacefully.” The family appealed for privacy as they mourn her passing, while requesting prayers for the repose of her soul and strength to cope with the loss. “During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul, and for all who mourn this immeasurable loss,” the statement added.

The family also disclosed that details of her funeral arrangements would be communicated at a later date. “Further details regarding the funeral arrangements and other family matters will be communicated in due course,” the statement read.

Lara’s death comes just weeks after she and Teddy welcomed their first child together, a moment that had been celebrated by family, friends and well‑wishers on social media. Teddy Don‑Momoh was previously married to the late gospel singer Kefee, who died in June 2014 after battling a lung‑related illness. The Don‑Momoh family expressed gratitude to those who have shown support since the announcement. “We sincerely thank everyone for the love, support, prayers, and understanding extended to the family during this difficult time,” the statement concluded.

The loss of Lara Kudayisi Don‑Momoh is a stark reminder of the fragility of life, even for those who share their lives in the public eye. As the family prepares to honor her memory, they have asked for privacy and continued prayers, underscoring the need for compassion during a profoundly personal tragedy. Further updates on funeral arrangements and memorial services will be shared by the family in due course.
