African Democratic Congress chieftain Kalu Kalu has challenged President Bola Tinubu to publicly disclose the primary and secondary schools he attended, intensifying scrutiny over the president’s educational background ahead of the 2027 general Elections.
Kalu issued the demand on Monday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme. His comments follow the Independent National Electoral Commission’s publication of personal particulars and credentials submitted by presidential candidates for the upcoming election cycle.
According to Media Talk Africa, Tinubu’s submission to INEC for the 2027 presidential election did not include primary or secondary school qualifications in the educational details section. Kalu seized on the omission, stating: “Come and tell Nigerians which primary and secondary schools you attended.”
The ADC leader also referenced Tinubu’s 2022 INEC filing, in which the president claimed possession of a National Youth Service Corps certificate bearing the name “Bola Adekunle Tinubu.” Kalu questioned the origin of the middle name “Adekunle” and alleged the certificate was forged. “He claimed he graduated, but the certificate was forged,” Kalu asserted.
The challenge reflects growing public and political pressure for transparency regarding the academic records of top officeholders. INEC’s publication of candidate particulars is intended to facilitate public scrutiny ahead of elections, but the absence of foundational educational details in Tinubu’s file has fueled speculation and criticism.
Observers note that questions about Tinubu’s educational history have persisted since his 2023 presidential campaign. The latest demand from a prominent opposition figure may prompt further legal or institutional inquiries, particularly if formal objections are lodged with INEC or the courts.
