Chelsea and 10 other Premier League clubs not competing in European competition this season will learn their Carabao Cup second round opponents in a draw taking place on Monday evening. The 11 top-flight sides enter at this stage alongside the winners of the first round ties, with Chelsea aiming to lift the trophy for a sixth time in the club’s history.

The draw is scheduled for Monday night during the build-up to Plymouth Argyle’s first round clash with Exeter City. Second round fixtures are set to be played during the week commencing Monday, 24 August.

A total of 46 clubs are involved in the draw: Brentford, Chelsea, Fulham, Newcastle United, Everton, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur, Coventry City, Ipswich Town, Hull City, Walsall, Wolves, Stevenage, Middlesbrough, Cambridge United, Millwall, Fleetwood Town, Barnsley, Bradford City, Burnley, Stoke City, Peterborough United, Lincoln City, Crewe Alexandra, Shrewsbury Town, Doncaster Rovers, Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackpool, Luton Town, Preston North End, Cardiff City, Leicester City, Watford, Norwich City, Leyton Orient, Reading, Birmingham City, AFC Wimbledon, West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Charlton Athletic, Southampton, and Sheffield United.

The competition continues to offer a route to silverware and potential European qualification for clubs across the English football pyramid, with the second round promising several intriguing matchups between top-flight and lower-league opposition.
