Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, on suspicion of attempting to kill her husband by poisoning his meal in Gwamma Village, located within Bauchi Local Government Area. The suspect, who had been married for approximately 40 days, allegedly introduced a toxic substance into her husband’s food, prompting an emergency response after a distress call was placed by an anonymous woman in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi.
Officers from the ‘C’ Division at Tafawa Balewa Estate arrived swiftly following the 7:40 p.m. alert. The victim was immediately transported to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where medical staff report his condition as stable. Police spokesman SP Nafiu Habib confirmed that Musa was taken into custody shortly after the incident and allegedly confessed during preliminary interrogation.
Investigators recovered an empty bottle believed to have contained the poison, along with remnants of the contaminated meal. Both items have been logged as exhibits. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for deeper probe. Authorities say the suspect will face formal charges once investigations conclude.
