Police in Kaduna State have arrested six suspected kidnappers and dismantled a hideout in Ikara Local Government Area following a coordinated operation driven by community intelligence.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the arrests resulted from credible information provided by a kidnapping victim who escaped captivity and from members of the public. The victim reported his abduction to police on Tuesday and identified a residence belonging to Ja’e Samalu, 65, of Dogon Pako Village in Ikara as the location where he was held.
Acting on the complaint, the Ikara Police Division mobilized officers alongside local vigilante groups to raid the premises. The operation led to the arrest of six suspects aged between 20 and 65. All are currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine their individual roles in the crime. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network.
Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu commended the operatives and citizens for their timely cooperation. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest police formation. Rabiu also warned that criminal elements are increasingly using residential buildings as hideouts or holding facilities for kidnapped victims, stressing that community vigilance and prompt information-sharing remain critical to dismantling such networks across the state.
