Fast‑moving consumer goods company Unilever Nigeria announced that it will exit the home‑care and skin‑cleansing markets as part of a strategic repositioning aimed at sustained profitability. The decision was disclosed in a corporate notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited, signed by the company’s secretary, Abidemi Ademola.

Unilever explained that it is revising its business model to accelerate growth and better serve consumers, shareholders, and employees. The plan involves repurposing the portfolio by withdrawing from the home‑care and skin‑cleansing categories and concentrating on higher‑growth opportunities. The company will also strengthen operations by digitising and simplifying processes and implementing business‑continuity measures that reduce exposure to devaluation and currency‑liquidity risks.

Unilever expects that exiting these two categories during 2023 will improve overall profitability, drive growth, and create a more sustainable business.
