The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has secured a N10 million sponsorship from Providus Bank, granted for entrepreneurship studies. The partnership is slated to run for an initial three‑year period and will encompass several key initiatives. These include upgrading, equipping, and branding the LCCI learning centre; providing packaged soft loans and grants to graduates of the entrepreneurship programme; and offering support services such as advisory assistance in business development, financial literacy, planning, and guidance.
The collaboration aims to strengthen the SME sector through comprehensive entrepreneurship training. It will launch with the LCCI Entrepreneurship Mentoring Programme and the LCCI‑LASU Diploma in Entrepreneurship. According to the chamber, the diploma offers direct entry into degree programmes at Lagos State University and access to multimillion‑naira grants and loans from Providus Bank. Participants will also acquire practical entrepreneurial skills and benefit from the chamber’s extensive network and resources.
Students in the programme will engage in business counselling and mentoring, business tours, networking hangouts, and hybrid classroom learning. The initiative is scheduled to commence in May. Commenting on the partnership, Providus Bank’s Chief Financial Officer, Deoye Ojuroye, said, “This is something we are committed to. We do not want it to be a one‑off. Businesses are the bedrock of economic development. It is a partnership we hope will go into the future.”
