In a recent interview, Yeni Kuti, a well-known media personality and elder sister of Femi Kuti, a Grammy-nominated afrobeat artist, has opened up about why the singer’s former wife, Funke, decided to leave him.
According to Yeni, Funke left Femi due to “communication breakdown,” and later regretted the decision. Yeni discussed this issue with Chude Jideonwo.
Yeni stated that, “Funke even now says if she had known then what she knows now, she probably wouldn’t have left the marriage. So, I think it was a communication breakdown.”
Yeni went on to say that their people, Nigerians, had a tendency to bring down anything good. People asked her why she is still dancing for her brother, and why she doesn’t form her own band. However, according to Yeni, creating a new band was not on her list of priorities, explaining that she never thought about it and didn’t know where to start.
