Kwara State Governor Laments the Tragic Boat Mishap

The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, expressed his condolences to the people of Patigi after the distressing news of a boat mishap in which many people were believed to have been killed while several others were reported missing.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Rafiu Ajakaye issued a statement on the incident on Tuesday in Ilorin.

The boat was carrying passengers from Egboti in Niger State who were en route to Kpada in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, including people from other states.

The statement reads: “The Governor is sad to receive reports of the boat accident involving several people, particularly residents of Ebu, Dzakan, Kpada, Kuchalu, and Sampi, all in Patigi.

He also extends his heart-felt sympathies to the people of these communities and other states. He prayed to Almighty Allah to repose the souls of the victims.”

The Governor is reportedly monitoring and coordinating the rescue operation efforts that have been launched to search for any possible survivors.

In his statement, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq commended the Etsu Patigi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II and other local government authorities’ vigilance and concerted efforts to rescue as many people as possible who may have survived the mishap.
