Transfer: Chelsea set to terminate Aubameyang’s contract

Chelsea are set to terminate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract to enable him sign for Marseille as a free agent, ESPN reports.

Aubameyang has verbally agreed terms on a three-year deal to join the Ligue 1 side.

The 34-year-old striker only moved to Chelsea from Barcelona in September 2022, but struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, scoring just three goals.

Aubameyang’s move to France will mark his return to Ligue 1 after 10 years, following his spell at Saint-Etienne between 2011 and 2013.

Chelsea have undergone a huge squad upheaval this summer following the arrival of manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino is also expecting Romelu Lukaku to seal a move away from the club.
