NAHCON Acting Chairman Jalal Arabi Assumes Office

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced the appointment of Alhaji Jalal Arabi as its Acting Chairman, following a Presidential directive.

Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Commission, Alhaji Arabi acknowledged the trust placed in him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Highlighting the significance of his role in the context of nation-building under the Tinubu-led government’s renewed hope agenda, Arabi emphasized the importance of trust, sacrifice, and faith.

Arabi assured the NAHCON staff of a cooperative and brotherly relationship, stating his commitment to effective and firm leadership. He called on his team to join him in the mission to reposition the Commission for the betterment of all.

Representing the former Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan, Alhaji Nura Yakassai warmly welcomed Alhaji Jalal Arabi as the Acting Chairman. Yakassai, who previously served as the Commissioner for Policy, Personnel Management, and Finance (PPMF), also assured Arabi of the Commission’s support during this critical transition period for Hajj planning.

Born on October 28, 1962, in Jos, Plateau State, Alhaji Jalal Ahmed Arabi hails from Gombe State. He began his educational journey at Islamiyya Primary School in Jos before moving on to Government Secondary School Gombe in 1973.

After completing the College of Arts and Science in Bauchi in 1980, Arabi pursued a Law degree at the University of Jos, becoming a certified Barrister of Law in 1984.

Throughout his career, Alhaji Arabi continued to expand his education and professional qualifications through institutions such as the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, ASCON, University of Maryland, and others. These experiences equipped him with expertise in areas such as negotiations, security policy, and leadership.

Arabi’s professional journey began in July 1985 as a State Counsel at the Ministry of Justice in Bauchi State. Over the years, he held several positions, including Legal Adviser, Secretary, and Legal Officer in various government departments and ministries. Notably, he served as Permanent Secretary at the State House during the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi will serve as the Acting Chairman of NAHCON until January 17, 2023, replacing Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan.
