The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has restated his administration’s unwavering dedication to empowering the youth and providing them with the necessary resources to succeed in life. He has pledged to continue investing in youth development, creating platforms and opportunities for them to showcase their talents and abilities.
Speaking at an event in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, to commemorate National Youth Day, Governor AbdulRazaq, represented by the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi, emphasized the administration’s commitment to youth inclusion. He reassured the youth that their interests were a priority and promised to engage them meaningfully.
“In Kwara, with the support of the Governor, we are witnessing a positive transformation led by the youth,” said the Speaker. “I am confident that by this time next year, we will hear remarkable stories of the successes achieved by our youth.”
The event featured panel discussions and testimonies from young entrepreneurs who have excelled in various sectors such as technology and entertainment. Government officials, parliamentarians, academics, and members of the public were in attendance.
One of the legislators, Rukayat, expressed her gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for his assistance in realizing the potential of the youth. She credited his support for her status as the youngest legislator in Nigeria.
In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Usman Yunusa Lade, highlighted the government’s commitment to creating an environment that fosters creativity and allows the youth to influence policy decisions. He urged young people to be innovative and learn from established entrepreneurs in the creative industry.
Commissioner Bola Olukoju discussed the government’s youth-friendly programs and investments, including the Innovation Hub, Garment Factory, and Sugar Film Factory Studio. He commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his efforts to empower the youth and transform Kwara into a thriving business hub.
Temi Kolawole, the Managing Director of the Innovation Hub Center, encouraged young people to leverage the opportunities offered by the digital world. She urged them to be diligent and committed to growing their businesses through technology.
During the event, resource persons shared their experiences and offered advice to the youth. Hajarah Jibril, the CEO of Hajjewels Creations, emphasized the importance of resilience and utilizing the internet and social media to enhance personal brands. Haneefah Adam, another resource person, urged the youth to make use of available resources to pursue their dreams, sharing her own journey of using limited resources to develop herself as an artist.
Finally, Sola Rahman, the CEO of Sola Rahman Brand, discussed his decision to relocate his business to Kwara State due to the conducive environment created by the administration for the creative industry.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from the Kwara State government to prioritize youth development and engage them meaningfully in the state’s progress.
