The Katsina State Government has taken a firm stance by imposing a ban on all types of large religious, social, and nighttime gatherings within the state. The ban was officially declared by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Bala Salisu-Zango, in a statement released to the press in Katsina on Saturday.

Malam Bala Salisu-Zango emphasized that the directive encompasses extensive religious and social public congregations, with the exception of mandatory prayers. However, in the event of daytime gatherings, organizers are required to obtain prior permission.

According to the commissioner, “In the event of a necessity to convene a gathering, permission must be sought from the Police Divisional Officer within the local government area where the gathering is intended to take place.”

He stressed, “This announcement is in the best interest of public safety,” underscoring the critical nature of the preventive measure. Furthermore, Salisu-Zango affirmed that the ban is effective immediately.

In light of this development, the commissioner earnestly urged the populace to strictly adhere to the stipulated directives, cautioning that any violations would be met with the full force of the law.
