Kenyan Police Investigate Mysterious Disappearance of 8 Prisoners in Kisumu

Kisumu – An investigation is underway in Kisumu following the mysterious disappearance of 8 remandees from the Koru police station. The remandees were set to appear in Menara law court on Thursday to face various charges, but they vanished on Wednesday night. Police reported that 10 remandees had been transferred to the station from Kodiaga remand prison for their court appearances.

The escape took place when some of the remandees requested to be escorted to the restroom, seizing the opportunity to overpower the duty officer. Following the daring attempt, two escapees, still in handcuffs, were later apprehended within the expansive sugarcane plantation nearby. A manhunt is currently underway to locate the remaining 8 inmates, with officers scouring villages in the surrounding area since Wednesday night.
