Super Eagles to Clash with Argentina in High-Stakes Friendly

The highly anticipated friendly match between the Super Eagles and the reigning world champions, Argentina, is set to take place at the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in the United States of America on Tuesday, March 26.

Originally planned to be held in China, the location was changed due to a dispute involving Argentina’s captain, Lionel Messi, and Chinese authorities, resulting in the cancellation of the match.

This encounter marks the Super Eagles’ first appearance since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final showdown against Cote d’Ivoire. With a series of eight past meetings between Nigeria and Argentina, the latter has emerged victorious six times, while the Super Eagles have managed to secure two wins.

This upcoming match serves as a crucial preparation for the Super Eagles as they gear up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, slated for June, where they will face off against formidable opponents such as South Africa and Benin Republic.
