Former Chelsea Left-Back Criticizes Raheem Sterling’s Striking Skills

Former Chelsea left-back Scott Minto has recently voiced his concerns about Raheem Sterling’s technical football skills, particularly in striking the ball. Sterling, who plays for Chelsea, has been under scrutiny following a disappointing performance in the FA Cup match against Leicester City.

During the match, Sterling missed a crucial one-on-one opportunity and failed to convert a penalty, resulting in criticism from his own supporters. Despite this setback, Sterling remains determined to win over fans and contribute to Chelsea’s success by securing more trophies.

Minto, while acknowledging Sterling’s exceptional talent as a footballer, has questioned his ability to strike the ball effectively, especially in free-kicks and penalties. In an interview with talkSPORT, Minto expressed his reservations about Sterling’s technique, stating, “Raheem Sterling missed a one-on-one [Leicester City]; he missed a penalty where he should not really have taken it in the first place. And Raheem Sterling, as good a player as he is and it seems ridiculous to say, because I’d hate to have marked him, but he is never really struck the ball really well as a professional footballer. So I would not have him on free-kicks or penalties.”

While the criticism may be harsh, it highlights the ongoing debate surrounding Sterling’s performance on the field. As Sterling continues to strive for excellence, only time will tell if he can address these concerns and prove his critics wrong.
