Falcons Forward Oshoala Wants Team to Improve Finishing Amidst World Cup Setback

Super Falcons Struggle with Finishing in 1-0 Defeat to Spain

Nantes, France – Asisat Oshoala, the Super Falcons’ forward, has expressed satisfaction with her team’s performance in their 1-0 defeat to Spain at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday night. However, she emphasized the need for improvement in their finishing.

The match saw Alexia Putellas’ brilliant late free kick separate the two teams, with the Super Falcons’ Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiwendu Ihezuo missing good scoring opportunities. This is not the first time the team has struggled with scoring, as they also failed to find the back of the net in their opening fixture against Brazil.

Oshoala, speaking after the game, acknowledged the team’s performance, saying, “All I can say is I am proud of our performance. I think we played good. We played against the world champions and we had our chances, we had opportunities to score.” She added, “I think the same thing happened to us in the first game. We were not clinical upfront. I think if we start scoring goals we can compete with any team in the world.”

The Super Falcons will look to bounce back from this defeat and improve their finishing in their next matches. With the World Cup qualification on the line, the team will need to find a way to convert their chances into goals if they hope to advance to the next round.
