The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has pledged to ensure that Nigeria exceeds the $4.82 billion generated from non‑oil exports in 2022. Ekiti State Coordinator of NEPC, Mrs. Iyabode Abe, affirmed that under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Yakussak Ezra, the Council will continue to promote non‑oil export development to safeguard the nation’s economy.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti at a one‑day technical and training session on product packaging for exporters and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Abe highlighted that the Council’s efforts in 2022 boosted the country’s Gross Domestic Product by 15 percent. She noted that the event, organized by NEPC, included the donation of two packaging machines to be housed at the Technical Incubation Centre in the state capital for SME use.
Abe emphasized the Council’s commitment to intensify non‑oil export promotion through training programmes that will expose SMEs to export technicalities, giving them a competitive edge in the global market. She described Nigeria’s SME population as a key asset in the country’s economic diversification agenda and urged entrepreneurs to focus on product packaging and labeling—essential drivers for sustainable marketing of “Made in Nigeria” products abroad.
Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Trade and Investment, Mrs. Omotayo Adeola, praised NEPC’s training and donation, stating that the Biodun Oyebanji‑led state government is keen to provide support and guidance to SMEs to help them upscale and increase production.
