Marcelo Congratulates Cristiano Ronaldo on Record-Breaking Goal

Real Madrid legend Marcelo has weighed in on Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest achievement, congratulating the Portuguese superstar on extending his record as the top goalscorer of all time. Ronaldo’s record-breaking goal came during Al-Nassr’s 2-1 win over Al Rayyan in the AFC Champions League on September 30.

Ronaldo’s impressive left-footed finish in the second half (76′) not only sealed the win for his team but also pushed his tally to 904 goals, a feat that further solidifies his status as a football legend. Following the game, Ronaldo took to social media to celebrate his victory, posting a picture of himself and his teammates with the caption “Hard work pays off. Let’s keep going!” Marcelo, who spent nine years alongside Ronaldo at Real Madrid, responded to his former teammate’s post with a simple yet sincere “And counting…”

Ronaldo and Marcelo enjoyed a successful partnership at Real Madrid, winning four Champions League and two La Liga titles together. During their time together, they played a crucial role in Real Madrid’s iconic three-peat Champions League run between 2015 and 2018 under the guidance of former manager Zinedine Zidane.

However, not everyone shares Ronaldo’s admiration for his achievements. Former Real Madrid forward Antonio Cassano made some astonishing claims about Ronaldo’s abilities, stating that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner doesn’t know how to play football. Cassano claimed that Ronaldo’s sole objective has always been to score goals, unlike other top strikers who can perform cohesively with their team.

Ronaldo, who scored 450 goals in 438 appearances across competitions for Real Madrid and holds the club’s record goalscorer title, remains one of the most prolific goal-scorers in the history of the sport.
