Goalkeepers Arrive, Others Delayed Due to Flight Issues

Super Eagles’ Goalkeepers, Other Players Delayed due to Flight Cancellation Ahead of Libya Clash

Monday’s anticipated arrival of goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali and Amas Obasogie at the Super Eagles’ camp in Uyo marked the beginning of preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Libya. However, the eagerness of the team’s management was somewhat dampened by a flight hitch that left some invited players grounded.

According to SCORENigeria, Wilfred Ndidi and Benjamin Tanimu found themselves stranded in Lagos after their Ibom Air flight was cancelled due to delays. The plane, initially scheduled to depart at 3 pm, was eventually grounded, causing frustration among the players who had planned to join the team in Uyo on Monday. Assistant coach Daniel Ogunmodede, too, was affected by the cancellation.

The delayed trio is expected to reach the camp on Tuesday morning, leaving them with minimal time to settle in and get acquainted with the rest of the team before the crucial matches against Libya. Despite this setback, the team is likely to make the most of the situation and push forward with its preparation plans.

As the team prepares to face off against Libya, the atmosphere is likely to be charged with anticipation and pressure. With the Super Eagles having suffered a recent decline in form, this qualifying series is crucial for the team’s survival in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
