Activision Eyes Next Call of Duty as Black Ops 6 Set to Release
Activision is poised to release Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on October 25, but rumors suggest the company is already looking ahead to the next installment in the popular franchise. According to a recent leak, Call of Duty 2025 will reportedly be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2, set in the 2030s. If true, this will mark the first time Activision has released back-to-back Black Ops titles.
The leak, shared on X by Fumo Leaks, claimed to be from an alleged focus group meeting for Call of Duty 2025. The meeting revealed details about the game’s campaign, features, multiplayer, and Zombies modes. According to the leak, David Mason from Black Ops 2 will return as the protagonist in Call of Duty 2025, which will be set in 2035 after the events of the 2012 game.
Fumo Leaks described the game as having an "espionage theme with a key point being informational warfare." The leak also revealed that body shields will return to multiplayer mode, allowing players to stick grenades to bodies and throw them back at enemies. Additionally, the Omnimovement feature from Black Ops 6 will be present in Call of Duty 2025, along with the ability to execute wall jumps and smoother movement animations.
Multiplayer modes in Call of Duty 2025 will feature familiar modes and maps, while the Zombies mode will boast one of the biggest maps in the series, complete with a transportation system to aid traversal. Zombies will also receive an eight-player mode.
While these leaks corroborate previous reports about Call of Duty 2025, Activision has yet to confirm any details about the next game. With Black Ops 6 set to release on October 25 across various platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X, fans will have to wait for official confirmation on the future of the franchise.
In the meantime, the upcoming Black Ops 6 is generating excitement among fans, with its direct follow-up to 2020’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and setting in 1991. As Activision prepares for the release of Black Ops 6, the rumors surrounding Call of Duty 2025 have already begun to build anticipation for the next installment in the beloved franchise.
