The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, pledged on Tuesday to continue President Major General Muhammadu Buhari’s developmental programmes if he becomes the next president. Speaking at the APC South‑East grand‑finale rally in Owerri, Tinubu criticized the Peoples Democratic Party, saying it had failed to move the country forward when given the chance. He described Buhari’s eight‑year tenure as a “retooling process” and promised to invest in education, build infrastructure, and manage resources prudently should he be elected.

Tinubu asserted, “PDP stole Nigeria’s treasure. President Buhari’s eight years is a retooling process. PDP are liars. We will continue with developmental programmes of APC; it will not stop. Imo is the destination for tourism; we will add value to real estate in Imo State, invest in education, build and reconstruct your roads in Imo. No more issue of ASUU strike. We will be prudent and manage revenue generation capacity, we will bring peace, we will work with the state to ensure security.” Buhari, who handed over the APC flag to Tinubu, affirmed that the party’s candidate would deliver if he succeeded him.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma assured the party that his state would support the APC in the February 25 presidential election, saying, “Imo people are grateful to Mr President. We sought your support for building roads and fighting insecurity in Imo State and you approved. It is time to reciprocate that support by voting for APC.” Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi echoed this sentiment, stating that the Igbo would vote for the APC because of the Second Niger Bridge constructed during the Buhari regime. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwu‑Olu added that Igbo people living in his state are supporting Tinubu.
