As groups declared their support for Atiku, Deputy Director of Administration for the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council, Abiodun Oladipo, emphasized that the presidential villa is not an apprenticeship workshop where elected politicians can simply learn on the job. He added that Nigerians will vote for business‑ minded leaders such as Atiku Abubakar. Oladipo made these remarks shortly after receiving three groups on behalf of Atiku at the PDP campaign headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
The former National Secretary of the PDP noted that Atiku does not feel entitled to the office; rather, he wants to use his capacity to address the country’s current challenges. The PCC director said the former vice‑president has promised to implement his five‑point policy document, which Nigerians have taken as the basis for their support in the February 25 presidential election. “The villa is not an apprentice workshop where you can go and start learning on the job. This is a serious business and Atiku means business,” he asserted.
“It is with great enthusiasm, gratitude, and joy that, on behalf of Atiku, Okowa, and Iyorchia Ayu, I accept your support. We are ready to work with you to achieve our Recover Nigeria project,” Oladipo continued. He assured that Atiku will pursue the five‑point agenda religiously and that “Nigeria will be a great country again.” He described the day as one of the best for the Atiku‑Okowa campaign organization and clarified that Atiku is not contesting the election merely to become president, but because he loves the country.
Oladipo also rejected the entitlement mentality some people display, stating, “It is not my turn, it is not our turn; the presidential villa is not a private estate, nor is it a hospital ward or sick bay.” The groups represented by their leaders were the Northern Intellectuals Forum, led by Muhammed Abubakar; the Association of Skilled and Vocational Artisans of Nigeria, led by Comrade Ozeomena Pepple; and the Voters Club of Nigeria, led by Uzama Osagie. Speaking earlier, Abubakar of the NIF pledged, “We support the Atiku‑Okowa Recover Nigeria project. We are already contributing to the campaign to ensure that Atiku and Okowa win the election.”
