Kebbi State to Establish Army Base in Zuru Emirate to Boost Security

In a bid to bolster security in Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris has announced the establishment of an Army operational base in the Zuru Emirate. This move comes in response to recent bandit attacks in the area, which resulted in the loss of lives and the rustling of cattle. The governor’s decision is a clear indication of his administration’s commitment to protecting its citizens from the scourge of banditry and other criminal activities.

During his condolence visits to Tadurga village and Kyebu, both of which were affected by the bandit attacks, Governor Idris revealed that arrangements for the base were already in place. He also disclosed that he had made arrangements for the immediate deployment of Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and other equipment from Abuja to the state. The state government will work swiftly to establish the base, with a focus on providing temporary accommodation pending the construction of a permanent structure.

Governor Idris emphasized that his administration prioritizes the security of its citizens, stating, “No government will fold its arms and allow its law-abiding citizens to suffer from the hands of bandits and other criminals.” He described the deaths of the people as sad, praying for the victims to be granted eternal rest and for the speedy recovery of those injured. The governor also urged the public not to politicize the issue of security and to refrain from making unguarded comments on social media.

The Emir of Zuru, Sani Sami-Gomo II, expressed his gratitude to the governor for his condolence visit and commended his efforts to combat insecurity in the emirate. The establishment of the Army operational base is a significant step towards restoring peace and security in the area, and it is hoped that it will serve as a deterrent to bandits and other criminals. With the governor’s commitment to security and the support of the emirate, the people of Kebbi State can look forward to a safer and more secure future.
