Hoodlums set party secretariat ablaze, kill two

The Kano State Police Command on Monday confirmed the death of two persons after thugs set ablaze the campaign office of the New Nigeria People’s Party in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, who confirmed the incident, said four of the suspected hoodlums were arrested.

“At about 1600hrs, reports were received that, while the collation of results was ongoing at Tudun Wada Local Government Area INEC Office, a group of thugs in large numbers mobilised and attacked the campaign office of NNPP House of Representatives candidate and set the building ablaze.

“Two unknown persons in a stationary vehicle inside the building were burnt to death as a result of the inferno,” Haruna said in a statement made available to journalists.

According to him, the suspected hoodlums again mobilised and attempted to block the road leading to the INEC Office, adding that security personnel were immediately mobilised to the scene.

He explained that one of the thugs was injured and was rushed to the hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

The police spokesman said the investigation was ongoing after which the suspects would be taken to court.
