Coalition: ADC presents membership cards to David Mark, Aregbesola

The South East Democratic Forum (SEDEF) has voiced confidence in the opposition coalition led by the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), asserting that it could unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State and across Nigeria. National President Chris Ogbu said the ADC has shown the capacity to challenge the current government, citing the ruling party’s “massive failure” as a motivating factor. SEDEF praised opposition leaders for offering an alternative voice to the electorate and providing hope for change.

The statement highlighted the ADC’s mobilization efforts for the 2027 general election in Ebonyi State and nationwide, indicating its readiness to assume power. It emphasized that a credible opposition coalition would give Nigerians a viable alternative to the incumbent government. Since former Senate President David Mark was inaugurated as interim chairman, the ADC has gained momentum, attracting prominent politicians such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and Nasir El‑Rufai of Kaduna State.

The coalition’s growth and rising popularity suggest a potential shift in Nigeria’s political landscape. As the 2027 general election approaches, observers will closely watch the ADC’s ability to challenge the APC’s dominance. The election’s outcome will depend on factors such as the coalition’s capacity to mobilize support and present a unified front. SEDEF’s endorsement of the ADC reflects a growing desire among Nigerians for alternative leadership and governance, and the developments in the country’s political scene are likely to have significant implications for its future.
