The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognized the new leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), headed by former Senate President David Mark. National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi announced the decision during an interview on “Politics Today,” a Channels Television program, noting that the recognition resolves the concerns party members had about INEC’s stance on the leadership.
Abdullahi explained that the earlier delay in INEC’s acknowledgment had caused anxiety among ADC members, but the official confirmation now enables the party to register new members formally. He also addressed internal disputes, affirming that the ADC is not experiencing a leadership struggle. Those who oppose David Mark’s leadership, Abdullahi said, should seek redress through the courts, emphasizing that the party’s position is clear.
The INEC recognition is a significant development for the ADC, providing clarity on its leadership structure and supporting its efforts to strengthen the party and expand its membership. With the leadership issue settled, the party can focus on its goals, including member registration and preparation for upcoming elections. Under David Mark’s guidance, the ADC is promoting its ideals and values, and the INEC acknowledgment marks a milestone in that process.
While the party will inevitably face challenges as it moves forward, the official recognition and its ability to resolve internal disputes demonstrate the ADC’s commitment to democratic principles and the rule of law, laying a solid foundation for its future activities.
