EPL: Why I felt sorry for Sesko - Danny Simpson

Manchester United’s struggles continued on Sunday with a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League. The loss has raised concerns about the team’s ability to create scoring opportunities. Former Leicester City defender Danny Simpson expressed sympathy for the club’s new striker, Benjamin Sesko, who was unable to make an impact. “I felt sorry for Sesko today. He’s trying, but there’s nothing he can do,” Simpson said in an interview with Stadium Astro, adding that the team’s failure to generate chances from various areas of the pitch is a major worry.

Despite bringing in quality players during the summer transfer window, United has persisted in its poor form, echoing last season’s results. Managed by Ruben Amorim, the side has played four Premier League games this season, recording only one win, two losses and one draw. They currently sit 14th in the table with four points, and pressure is mounting on Amorim to turn things around at Old Trafford. Simpson also questioned Amorim’s decision not to start Kobbie Mainoo, noting that Mainoo brings much‑needed energy when he comes on.

United’s upcoming home game against high‑flying Chelsea next Saturday will be a crucial test. With the Red Devils struggling to find their footing, they must regroup and refocus if they hope to secure a win against a strong Chelsea side. Their ability to create and capitalize on scoring opportunities will be key to success in the next match. As the Premier League season unfolds, Manchester United will need to address these issues and climb the rankings if they are to remain competitive.
