Party chieftain reveals reasons for mass defection to APC in Abia

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has rejected a prediction by Professor Udenta Udenta that the party will collapse before the 2027 general elections. In a statement released on Wednesday, the state party’s spokesman, Mr. Seye Oladejo, dismissed Udenta’s forecast as “theatrics” and “empty talk.” Udenta, the founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, made the prediction during a television interview on Tuesday.

Oladejo countered that the APC is actually growing in strength and popularity. He argued that a prediction made from a studio does not become reality, and that Udenta’s interview lacked substance, relying heavily on rhetoric. Oladejo invited Udenta to visit the party’s structures and witness the organizational efforts and commitment of millions of Nigerians to progressive governance, saying such a visit would provide a more accurate understanding of the party’s situation.

The APC has been a dominant force in Nigerian politics, and its performance in the 2027 elections will be closely watched. Party leadership has been working to strengthen its structures and build support among voters. By rejecting Udenta’s prediction, the party aims to reassure supporters and maintain confidence in its prospects. The exchange between Oladejo and Udenta reflects the ongoing debate about the APC’s future and its potential impact on Nigerian politics. As the 2027 elections approach, analysts and observers will monitor the party’s performance and assess its chances of success, recognizing that the APC’s ability to remain a major political force depends on its capacity to build and sustain voter support.
