2025 U-20 W/Cup: Daga optimistic Flying Eagles will beat Saudi Arabia

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will meet Saudi Arabia in their second match at the 2025 FIFA U‑20 World Cup in Chile, after a loss to Norway in their opening game. The seven‑time African champions are eager to rebound and secure maximum points against their Asian opponents. In the Norway match, the Eagles dominated possession and struck the crossbar twice, yet they were unable to convert those chances into a win.

Midfielder Daniel Daga remains optimistic, pointing to the team’s strong performance against Norway as a reason for confidence. “We lost our game against Norway that we deserved to win,” Daga said at a press conference before the Saudi Arabia match. “I know Saudi Arabia also lost their game, so we are hundred percent prepared and confident to go out there and get the three points.”

Coach Aliyu Zubairu will look to build on the positives from the Norway encounter and make the necessary adjustments to achieve a better result against Saudi Arabia. Another defeat could see the Flying Eagles exit the tournament early at the group stage, making a win crucial for keeping their hopes alive and advancing to the next round.

The 2025 FIFA U‑20 World Cup brings together 24 of the world’s top young footballers in Chile, offering a platform for emerging talent to showcase their skills and launch international careers. With their African championship pedigree, the Flying Eagles have demonstrated the ability to perform at a high level and will aim to replicate that success in Chile. The upcoming match promises to be an exciting, closely contested encounter, with both teams eager to prove themselves on the international stage.
