Nigeria Minister Urges Citizens To Promote National Unity

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged citizens to promote national unity and patriotism, rather than de-marketing the country. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Umahi expressed concern over the growing culture of negativity and public condemnation of Nigeria, both within and outside the country.

Umahi emphasized the importance of having a positive outlook and working towards the country’s development, rather than criticizing it. He noted that Nigerians often face hardships and humiliation abroad, but fail to adhere to rules and regulations when they return home. The minister encouraged citizens to be optimistic and forward-looking, emphasizing that approaching issues with bitterness and unappreciation would not yield positive results.

Umahi also praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to addressing the country’s economic challenges, which he described as a terrible situation inherited from the previous administration. The minister highlighted the president’s refusal to publicly complain about the challenges, citing it as a mark of leadership courage.

According to Umahi, the current administration has made significant progress in addressing the country’s economic woes, with key indices such as inflation and GDP growth showing improvement. The minister noted that the foreign reserve has increased by over 42 percent and that the reforms implemented by the government are yielding positive results.

Umahi emphasized the importance of hard work and infrastructure development in driving economic growth and improving living standards. He urged citizens to support the government and engage in constructive criticism, rather than spreading negativity and pessimism. The minister expressed confidence that the country is on the path to recovery and that the worst of the economic challenges are behind them.
