Recently, a demolition operation was carried out at the trade fair complex in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, where several plazas were razed. The exercise was reportedly conducted by officials from the Lagos Ministry of Physical Planning, Lagos State Building Control Agency, Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency, and the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority.
Obi emphasized that the willful destruction of people’s homes, shops, and goods by government agencies is deeply condemnable. He argued that rather than intensifying the hardship faced by citizens, the government should focus on providing relief measures and supporting struggling families. The former Anambra State governor noted that these demolitions not only destroy livelihoods but also undermine businesses and threaten the economic security of hardworking citizens.
