Taraba State Election Sees Innovations for Transparency

The Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission has introduced several innovations to enhance the voting process and transparency in the upcoming local government elections. According to Philip Duwe, the Commission’s Chairman, the primary goal is to deliver a credible election that reflects the true will of the people.

In a press briefing in Jalingo, Dr. Duwe highlighted the Commission’s engagement with civil society organizations and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process. He commended journalists for their comprehensive coverage, urging them to maintain professionalism and ethical standards during the polls. The TSIEC Chairman also disclosed that over 23 local government chairmen from across Nigeria, as well as local and international election observers, are in Taraba State to monitor the election.

All court cases previously filed against the Commission have been resolved in its favor, paving the way for an unhindered electoral exercise. Dr. Duwe appealed to eligible voters to come out in large numbers and exercise their franchise peacefully. He also announced that there would be no restriction on movement during the election, with adequate security measures in place to ensure orderliness and safety.

The introduction of innovations and engagement with stakeholders demonstrates the Commission’s commitment to transparency and credibility. The presence of local and international observers will provide an additional layer of oversight, ensuring that the election reflects the will of the people. With the court cases resolved, the stage is set for a smooth electoral process. The people of Taraba State will be watching closely as they head to the polls to elect their local government representatives. The outcome of the election will be significant, as it will shape the state’s governance and development trajectory. As the people of Taraba State prepare to exercise their franchise, the international community will be watching with interest, awaiting the outcome of this crucial electoral exercise.
