NMDPRA Warns Against Panic Buying, Assures Of Adequate Petrol Supply • Channels Television

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has issued a statement to reassure the public that petroleum product supplies are adequate as the festive season approaches. Director of Public Affairs George Ene‑Ita emphasized that the country holds sufficient stocks of diesel, petrol and LPG to meet demand, thanks to a combination of local refinery output and imports that keep storage depots and retail stations well‑stocked.

The Authority warns against hoarding and panic buying, which could trigger unnecessary price increases. It will closely monitor the supply situation and, if needed, implement regulatory measures to prevent disruptions in the distribution of petroleum products nationwide.

The NMDPRA also commended the efforts of stakeholders across the midstream and downstream value chain for helping ensure a smooth, uninterrupted supply. The public can be confident that the Authority remains committed to guaranteeing energy security, a vital component of Nigeria’s economic stability.

By highlighting the availability of sufficient petroleum products, the NMDPRA aims to deter price manipulation, artificial shortages and price hikes that often accompany periods of high demand. As the festive season progresses, the Authority will continue to play a critical role in maintaining uninterrupted supply and distribution, supporting the country’s economic activities and the well‑being of its citizens. Its dedication to energy security provides a stable foundation for Nigeria’s ongoing growth and development.
