When does Spotify Wrapped start tracking for 2026? What we know.

Spotify’s annual Wrapped feature is returning, offering users a comprehensive summary of their music‑listening habits for the year. The update includes shareable screenshots and a personalized playlist, highlighting top genres, artists, and songs. This edition adds new elements such as a listening age, top albums, and a fan leaderboard.

Spotify confirms that data collection for Wrapped begins on January 1 and continues until a few weeks before the feature’s launch. According to Molly Holder, senior director of product for personalization at Spotify, any music listened to in the final weeks of the year will not be reflected in the next Wrapped summary. While the exact cutoff date is not disclosed, the company notes that tracking typically stops a few weeks prior to the release, giving users a brief window at the start of each year to listen without those plays being included.

Wrapped has become a popular annual tradition, allowing users to reflect on their listening habits and share their preferences with others. With expanded features and personalized insights, the tool continues to evolve, offering a unique perspective on music consumption. As the streaming industry grows, such features provide valuable insights into user behavior, helping services better understand their audiences and tailor offerings to meet listeners’ needs. The next edition of Wrapped, slated for release in the coming year, will again deliver a comprehensive summary covering the period from January 1 to a few weeks before the launch.
