PDP BoT meets, vow to restore party confidence, hold state congresses

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, chaired by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring confidence within the party. In a meeting held in Abuja, Ohuabunwa presented a roadmap that calls for the conduct of overdue state congresses, the consolidation of achievements, and support for the national leadership. The aim is to promote unity, transparency, and stronger grassroots engagement.

The BoT Chairman stressed the importance of holding timely congresses and reinforcing organizational discipline to rebuild trust among members. He assured that transparent congresses will be organized across the states and noted progress in reorganizing affected states. This includes establishing credible party committees to prepare for transparent congresses and subsequent convention processes.

These efforts focus on building trust, strengthening internal structures, and ensuring the PDP remains a model of fairness and inclusiveness in Nigeria’s democratic space. According to the party’s constitution, the BoT must provide stability, wisdom, and moral guidance, safeguarding the party’s values and avoiding divisive tendencies.

The move to restore confidence and organize congresses comes as the PDP seeks to present a more organized and credible front ahead of future elections. By doing so, the party hopes to rebuild trust among members and bolster its position in the country’s political landscape. The BoT’s commitment to transparency and fairness is expected to shape the party’s future and its impact on Nigeria’s democratic process.

The Abuja meeting is part of the PDP’s ongoing efforts to address internal issues and strengthen its structures. The national leadership has expressed readiness to work collaboratively with all state chapters, bringing fresh leadership and stability across the country. As the party moves forward, its ability to conduct transparent congresses and reinforce organizational discipline will be crucial to its success in upcoming elections.
