Tinubu Meets Osun APC Leaders

President Bola Tinubu met with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State and governorship aspirants on Wednesday, emphasizing the need for a unified front to secure victory in the upcoming governorship election. The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, brought together notable figures including former Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Akin Ogunbiyi, and Senator Babajide Omoworare, among others.

The APC’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, were also in attendance, along with the Chairman of the Progressive Governors, Hope Uzodimma, and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola. According to a statement by the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu stressed the importance of party supremacy in selecting candidates and urged the aspirants to prioritize the party’s success in Osun State.

The President encouraged the aspirants to strengthen their unity and collective responsibility, saying, “You all have a duty and obligation to the party by ensuring the candidate of our party wins the next election in Osun State.” He also emphasized the need for consensus-building ahead of the party’s primary on December 13. The meeting comes as the APC prepares for the governorship election, with the party seeking to maintain its stronghold in the state.

The APC’s chances of winning the election depend on the party’s ability to present a united front and choose a strong candidate. The meeting with President Tinubu is seen as a crucial step in this process, as it brings together key stakeholders and aspirants to discuss the way forward. With the party’s primary just around the corner, the outcome of the meeting is likely to have significant implications for the APC’s chances in the governorship election.

As the election approaches, the APC will need to navigate the complexities of internal party politics while also responding to the challenges posed by opposition parties. The party’s ability to balance these competing demands will be crucial in determining its success in Osun State. For now, the focus remains on the party’s primary, where aspirants will vie for the chance to represent the APC in the governorship election. The outcome of this process will set the stage for the main event, as the APC seeks to maintain its position in the state.
