2027: Adamawa ADC calls for united national coalition to defeat APC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has voiced concern over the emerging situation involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi as the 2027 presidential election approaches. Party National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi told Arise Television’s Morning Show that, while this development poses a challenge the ADC must address, it is not the greatest threat to democracy.

Abdullahi emphasized that the party’s primary focus is on strengthening its structures nationwide rather than debating potential presidential candidates. The ADC is working to establish a strong presence across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory as part of its election‑cycle preparations.

Although the Atiku‑Obi issue is one of the matters the party will eventually need to resolve, Abdullahi said the ADC will first seek to build consensus. If consensus cannot be reached, the contest will be opened to all aspirants. The race is not limited to Atiku and Obi, as other individuals have also expressed interest in the party’s presidential ticket.

The ADC is exploring multiple options, including discussions with other political parties, to form a formidable coalition ahead of 2027. Abdullahi stressed that the party still has much work to do, such as establishing its presence and positioning itself to contest elections in every state. While the developments surrounding Atiku and Obi have raised doubts about the ADC coalition, the party remains focused on its preparations. Its ability to address these emerging challenges and build a strong coalition will be crucial to its success in the upcoming presidential election.
