Osun State’s All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Obokun Local Government Area have called for unity among party members to support the governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the upcoming August 8, 2026 election. Oyebamiji emerged as the party’s flagbearer through a consensus process, with other aspirants stepping down in his favour.
The APC Leaders’ Forum in the local government area issued a communiqué after a meeting, emphasizing that party unity is essential to secure victory for Oyebamiji. The forum described him as a loyal, committed, and experienced politician, stressing that his success at the polls depends on a unified purpose. It appealed to state and national party leaders to harmonise interests and opinions within the party to ensure electoral success.
While the candidacy has made the party’s task easier, the forum warned that some members may be dissatisfied with the primary outcome and might not be fully committed to the campaign. Leaders must work to prevent internal sabotage and reconcile aggrieved members. The forum members pledged to mobilise grassroots support for Oyebamiji and commended party leaders for conducting a peaceful primary.
Available indications suggest that the electorate is yearning for the return of the APC in the state, but the forum cautioned that divisive tendencies must be shunned. With dedicated members, the forum believes victory will be more attainable. It also praised national and state leaders, including President Bola Tinubu and National Chairman Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, for their commitment to the party’s growth.
The call for unity comes as the APC prepares for the upcoming election, emphasizing that reconciling internal differences and presenting a united front will be crucial to determining the outcome. As the electoral process intensifies, the party’s efforts to mobilise support and address internal concerns will be closely watched.
