Prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, including former Senate Leader Senator Teslim Folarin and Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, have pledged to support President Bola Tinubu’s re‑election bid in 2027. Their commitment was announced during a tour of 14 federal constituencies aimed at mobilising party members and strengthening unity ahead of the upcoming election. The event, held in Oyo town, was attended by key party figures such as Oyo State APC Chairman Alhaji Olayide Abass and several senators.
In his address, Senator Folarin stressed the need to set aside personal ambitions and work toward a common goal. He noted that the party’s mission is to increase President Tinubu’s vote margin in the state by at least 35 % through intensified grassroots mobilisation. In the 2023 election, Tinubu secured 449,884 votes in Oyo State, one of the strongest margins nationwide. Party leaders resolved to build on this success by prioritising unity and rebuilding internal trust.
Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, a former first lady of Oyo State, described the initiative as a unifying platform that reflects the party’s strength and discipline. She appealed to leaders to close ranks and prioritise peace within the APC. The tour of the 14 federal constituencies is seen as a strategic move to galvanise support for Tinubu’s 2027 re‑election bid.
With the 2027 election approaching, the APC is focusing on increasing its vote share in Oyo State. The party’s ability to set aside internal wranglings and work toward a common objective will be crucial to achieving this goal.
