Anthony Joshua receives best treatment after Nigeria accident

President Bola Tinubu has confirmed that Nigerian-British boxer Anthony Joshua is receiving adequate medical attention in Nigeria following a fatal accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. The President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, released a statement on Monday detailing a phone conversation between President Tinubu and the boxing champion.

During the conversation, President Tinubu offered his condolences to Joshua over the death of two associates who lost their lives in the accident. The President also spoke with Joshua’s mother, expressing his sympathy and praying for her. Additionally, he contacted Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was visiting Joshua in the hospital, to ensure the boxer receives the best possible care.

Earlier, President Tinubu, who is currently abroad, expressed his sympathy for Joshua and his family through a statement on social media. The President praised Joshua’s courage, discipline, and love for Nigeria, which have made him a national pride. He also prayed for Joshua’s strength and speedy recovery during this difficult period.

The accident, which occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, resulted in the loss of two lives. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, overspeeding was the cause of the accident.
